Ever feel overwhelmed by blogging?
I’ve definitely been there.
There’s always something new to learn and implement–like increasing traffic, creating engaging content, or giving this making-income-online thing a go. Maybe you don’t even have a blog yet and have no idea where to start. There have been plenty of times when I’ve felt overwhelmed and the oh-my-gosh-what-do-I-focus-on-next has set in.
But overall, this mashup of creativity and online community and writing and learning that we call blogging gives me so much energy.
It isn’t always easy, and the fast pace of the blogging world means I don’t ever stop learning how to be a better blogger.
Learning and growing as a blogger is super important for me, and I’ve found that I thrive and gain the most traction when I’m learning new skills, connecting with like-minded biz owners, and pushing myself to take action.
One of the best ways I’ve found is by learning from other experienced bloggers who’ve mastered a particular aspect of blogging.
And you guys, I’m a sucker for a good ebook or online course. Buuuut….we all know it can get pretty pricey to buy All the Things. It’s important to make smart investments–and ones that we’ll actually take action on.
Which is why I’m excited that the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit offers a library of educational products each year. Keep reading for all the details of the 2020 bundle, my tips on getting the most out of it, a little review, and the bonus I’m offering when you purchase through my affiliate link.

5 Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit
That’s a LOT of content. You and I both know that you’re not going to dig into ALL of those resources at once (unless you’re Leslie Knope), but this is an incredible library that you can get access to now and be able to use and implement over the next few months to a year. I do not want you to invest your money in something you won’t use or love, which is why it’s awesome that the folks at Ultimate Bundles back it with a full money-back happiness guarantee.
Plus, I’ve got 5 actionable tips for getting the most out of this toolkit:
- Look at the list of products in depth.
Are there any resources you already wanted to purchase? I also like to Google the product and creator to find the sales page (and possibly reviews) to get more in-depth information about the courses I’m interested in because it’s hard to tell much from a paragraph or two.
- Pick the top 3-5 resources that you know you’ll use in the next few months and add up the value of those tools–then decide whether it’s right for you.
Want a quick way to calculate? Make a copy of this spreadsheet and head over to the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit page for the individual prices and descriptions.
- Use the Genius Blogging Toolkit User Manual to determine your action plan.
The folks at Ultimate Bundles know how easy it is for overwhelm to settle in, so they’ve created this workbook that you can use as a foundation before you jump in–so you go at it with strategy.
I LOVE the simple scoring system for prioritizing which tools you should dive into first. (You can also do the quick start version by using the super helpful product flow chart that breaks everything down by level of experience and goals.)
- Set aside time for a DIY educational workshop, and put it on the calendar!
When you go to a conference or in-person workshop, you block off that date and arrange whatever you need to in your schedule (whether it’s childcare, time off your full-time job, or other life stuff) so you can attend. You’re setting aside time to educate and invest in yourself as a business owner to grow professionally.
Why not do a DIY educational workshop over 2 or 3 days where you can get away from distractions and focus on your priorities for you blog and business?
- Put all the bundle resources and emails in ONE place.
You’ll get access to your own dashboard where you can sign up for courses and download workbooks, eBooks, and other resources. This will stay active for 6 months, but I like to do everything at once. When I sign up for the courses, I create a Gmail rule that filters each of those emails into a subfolder. When I download the PDFs, I put them ALL into a Dropbox folder (called “Awesome Blogging Resources” with a subfolder labeled “Genius Bloggers Toolkit 2020”). Even if you don’t sign up for everything at once, you can still use this method to keep yourself organized.
Trust me, you’ll thank yourself for having a system later!
What is Ultimate Bundles?
(Plus a Genius Blogger’s Toolkit Review)
Ultimate Bundles is a company that works with content creators to curate some of the best courses and products available into one massive bundle that’s only available for a limited time each year. They have a variety of topics like blogging, healthy living, meal planning, and more throughout the year.
When you purchase a bundle, you get a login to a dashboard (right away!) where you’ll see everything in one place with access instructions for each course, download, or bonus product.
Ultimate Bundles has been around for years and partner with some of the biggest names in the industries they create bundles for. Not only that, but I’ve seen from being involved on the back end as an affiliate that they are super committed to customer service!
I’ve purchased the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit for the past few years that they have been creating it (disclaimer: as an affiliate, I get a discounted rate), and I’ve gotten a ton of value out of it.
And most years, there are always at least a few courses or resources that I’m super excited about.
To be honest, the 2020 toolkit didn’t have any one course that really caught my eye, but it might just be where I’m at in my blogging journey right now. I don’t think this toolkit is right for everyone–you’ve got to review the contents to see if there are quality products that will help you meet your goals in the next 3-6 months.
Past Results + What I’m Looking Forward to This Year
In 2018, I went through Jessie on a Journey’s “How to Work With Brands” course and felt it worth the bundle price alone. I’ve enrolled in several of her courses, and I have to say that they are packed with quality content that is worth paying for–from email scripts to case studies and interviews to cheat sheets, plus all the lessons and real life examples from Jessie.
From her course on landing paying gigs with DMOs/CVBs (“How to Land Paid Press Trips as a Travel Blogger” — not part of past bundles but one that she offers), I landed an assignment for over $2,000. Full disclosure: I wasn’t a brand new blogger at the time, I had some background in the content she was teaching, and I leveraged the photography skills I had to sell a package of deliverables that the DMO could use in their marketing. But it was my first paid gig in this capacity, and the step-by-step guidance (setting prices!), email scripts, and support in the Facebook group helped me feel really confident in sealing the deal.
Another course I enjoyed in 2018 was Holiday Blogger Bootcamp with Caroline Vencil, which was all about creating gift guides. While I didn’t go all out with this course or strategy, I did create a couple of posts that more than paid for the price of the bundle, earning $216.18 over the year (just from these two posts). That’s nothing crazy, but this was a pretty simple and fun course–and it demonstrates that you can invest your time strategically in these courses to recoup the cost of the bundle and continue earning on autopilot.
There’s a similar course in the 2020 bundle called Holiday Spike by Emma Quay, which looks pretty good if you’re interested in strategies to leverage the upcoming holiday traffic.
Another course in the 2020 bundle that I think is interesting is Truly Evergreen Newsletters, where Victoria Pruett teaches you how to set up evergreen newsletters that are (mostly) set-it-and-forget-it. She walks through the steps of doing this in various email clients. This is a strategy I hadn’t heard of or considered before, and it’s definitely one I’ll consider.
I also looked through Pinterest Marketing 101, which for me is a review of basic information I’m familiar with. But I thought it was well-done for someone just getting started, and has some free pin templates that would be useful. And I found value in the Viral Pin Formula eBook included in the course, where Angie walks through detailed aspects of pin design and copy, including how she has tested various elements.
For anyone established, Video Pin Starter Kit might be a good option for really digging into video pins. I especially found the lesson on the top 10 styles of video pins helpful in brainstorming different ideas outside of what I’ve been doing.
One of the things I find especially helpful each year is having some legal templates and courses included, and this year is no exception with 3 resources included.
Some “meh” resources
Of course, not all the courses or ebooks will be a fit for you right now (or in the future). And you may find some of the resources underwhelming.
For instance, last year there was a course in the GBTK that I went through that had pretty basic social media marketing advice and a $297 price tag on the blogger’s website. This was from a well-known blogger who makes a lot of money from courses, but I felt like I would have been disappointed with that course if I had paid full price for it.
But the great thing about the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit is that you don’t have to find every single resource valuable to get your money’s worth. And! You can pick and choose parts of courses, especially if you’re more established.
The point is not to do ALL the things. It’s well worth the price if there are several products that you actually take action on.
Should you get the Cheat Sheets? Personally, I’ve never used them and don’t find that much value in them.
I feel like it’s one of those things that I keep around because “maybe I’ll use it,” but in reality I get more value from making my own notes as I go through courses. Of course, everyone is different and they may be a helpful learning tool for others.
A word of warning: Don’t do what I did in a past year! I purchased a mini course in 2018 because it was a topic that I needed a bit of extra support in (plus it had a great template that would save me a ton of time). Only to later realize that it was something in the 2017 Genius Blogger’s Toolkit, and I already had it! SO annoyed with myself….but I’m sharing this embarrassing moment to encourage you to keep your blogger toolkit super accessible and refer back to it often!
Who the toolkit is for
I never want to encourage anyone to spend money they don’t have or on something they won’t use. If you already have the knowledge or have invested in resources but just haven’t taken action, don’t get distracted by this.
Or if you don’t have funds in your budget to invest in any online learning, that’s okay, too. I DIYed my blogging for a long time and learned that you’ll either have to invest time or money.
If you don’t have the money to invest right now, then it’s time you’ll need to put in. And that’s okay.
The Genius Blogger’s Toolkit 2020 is something I would recommend to someone who is either just starting out (it’s a fantastic library for a beginner blogger) who has some money to invest, or an experienced blogger looking to step up their game in a few key areas that you’ve identified (as long as the toolkit includes them).
Either way, you’ve got to be ready to implement.
