Growing up in Maine and having packed for trips "home" for the past 15+ years, here are the must-pack items I recommend—whether you're renting a cabin on a lake, heading to Acadia National Park, or anywhere in between!
If you're planning outdoor adventures in Acadia or a state park, a good local map is helpful. And for adventures around the state, there's no map that does it better than the DeLorme Maine Atlas (every Mainer north of Portland has one!).
Layers are essential so you're prepared for anything from chilly to hot temperatures—sometimes in the same day! Don't neglect to pack a sweatshirt or two just because it's summer.
If you don’t like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes. ”

If you'll be doing anything outdoors, bug repellant is a MUST for ticks, black flies, and mosquitoes.
